Karana Lockie

Congratulations! Having a baby is one of the most incredibly special, transformative experiences in a woman’s lifetime, and it is my honour to walk alongside women and their whānau throughout this journey. I am a mama to 4 beautiful children, all born at home with the support of an amazing midwife. I am passionate about supporting homebirth, waterbirth, and support hypnobirthing as well. Before becoming a midwife, I taught yoga and meditation, and love weaving these skills into my practice. I always strive to provide individualised, holistic care, supporting you to make decisions that are best for you, and informed by sound midwifery knowledge and research. I have a deep trust in the innate wisdom of our bodies and their amazing ability to grow and birth our babies. I believe that nurturing this trust facilitates a confident, empowering birth experience. I work closely with a wonderful team of other like-minded midwives, and provide care in collaboration with the Waitakere hospital staff when needed.
