Hi, I have been a registered midwife since 2003. Since graduating from AUT I’ve worked in various settings, a staff midwife at North Shore Hospital, caseloading with Know Your Own Midwife (KYM), case-loading at Birthcare and, most recently, senior staff midwife at Auckland, ward 96/98 which is High Risk servicing all of New Zealand. While my recent background is with complicated pregnancy I believe pregnancy & childbirth are a normal life event & should be protected & celebrated as such. Working as a core midwife I’ve missed the passion & continuity of care that a midwifery practice allows, caring for women from the early antenatal period right through delivery into the postnatal period until discharge at six weeks old. Married for 35years, I have 3 grown children and 11 grandchildren. I have 3 dogs, 3 cats & 3 fish tanks. (I like the number 3. If you’re having your 3rd baby give me a call). My practice partner is Denise Johnson who is also a very experienced midwife. We back each other up.
