About Me

I provide care for women planning a home birth. Please do not be put off by this. I am happy to meet with you to discuss your plans for a birth. This is a no obligation, free visit & our discussion may help clarify which path you wish to go down on your birthing journey. I mainly do home visits & some evening visits. I registered as a midwife in 1982 in the UK & have worked in small and/or isolated communities in NZ & Canada and some London Hospitals as a nurse and midwife. Since the birth of my son in 1990 I have been case loading as a LMC midwife in Dunedin, providing home and hospital births. From 2003 I made the move to only do home births. After birth care is just as important as the pregnancy visits and I will see you on average ten times after the birth - up to six weeks. I also work in family planning/sexual health as a nurse and teach the positive birth ante natal classes I am studying for a certificate in midwifery acupuncture

How to Get Hold of Me

Home 476 4663 (preferable) Email: use Email form Text: 027 434 1974 (better than ringing the cell phone) If I have been up with a birth I do not always check messages that day . Don’t be discouraged if I have not responded to you within a couple of days – try again! Availability: I have a another part time job and am unavailable to attend you from 1 - 7.30pm on Tuesdays and 9am - 3.30pm on Fridays. I am available before and after these times. You will meet a back up midwife if I cannot come. There will be some weekends during your maternity journey when I will be away. This is not on a regular basis and usually you will have plenty of notice when this is happening. My holidays are booked well in advance & I do not book women who are due to birth over that time. 4 women / month is my maximum.
