Congratulations on your pregnancy, you are in for an interesting & exciting few months. It is a wonderful thing to be able to share in your journey, I have great memories of the strong women & wonderful families I have worked with over the years.
1976 saw me train as a Reg Nurse and continue to work in that field till 1996. My focus changed to the healthy client and healthy beginnings for babies and families.
I studied Midwifery at AUT (Auckland) & completed my degree in 1996 after which I worked at North Shore & Waitakere Hospitals, a helpful thing to do.
In 2000 I ended up in Wanganui & have mostly worked as a Self Employed Midwife ever since. I love getting to know my clients & their families & it's always sad to say goodbye after its all tidied up at 6 wks. My focus is (not exclusively) uncomplicated births & supporting women who want to breastfeed. I love waterbirths & homebirths where women get the chance to find their inner strength.
