Hello and congratulations on your pregnancy! My name is Anete Andzane, I am originally from Latvia, but have lived here in New Zealand for the last 15 years.
I started my career as a health practitioner at the school of medicine but soon realised that midwifery is what I would enjoy. I completed my midwifery degree in Dunedin and have been a midwife for 12 years. I have always practised as an LMC midwife but in the last five years I have also worked for the Hastings hospital. I am experienced in both home and hospital births.
My philosophy is that birth is a normal life event. It is my job to provide you and your family with education around pregnancy, birth and postnatal period as well as to empower and look after all women in my care. It is my responsibility to make sure you and your baby are safe at all times and sometimes it means a prompt intervention is needed to achieve this.
I have three lovely children aged seven, five and one and I run my clinics from Hastings.
