After training as a nurse and midwife in the UK I emigrated to New Zealand where I have practised as both a self employed and DHB employed midwife, and as a midwifery educator. I spent many years working in South Auckland and am now living in Northland. As well as LMC practice, I continue to enjoy working with student midwives. My focus is primary care as I believe in the power of women to birth their babies naturally, I also believe that the most effective care is grounded in a strong partnership between a woman and her midwife, based on clear and open communication. I am happpy to support women with birthing at home, Wellsford Birthing Unit, and possibly Whangarei Hospital. I am passionate about the education of our future midwives, so I may ask if a student midwife can be involved in your care. I work closely with my practice partner, Diane Klomp, who you are likely to meet during your pregnancy. I offer full maternity care to women in Maungaturoto and surrounding areas, including east of Dargaville.
