After training as a nurse and midwife in the UK I emigrated to New Zealand where I have practised as both a self employed and DHB employed midwife, and as a midwifery educator. I spent many years working in South Auckland and am now living in Northland. As well as LMC practice, I work part time as midwife educator for AUT. My focus is primary care as I believe in the power of women to birth their babies naturally, I also believe that the most effective care is grounded in a strong partnership between a woman and her midwife, based on clear and open communication. I am happy to support women with birthing at home and at Wellsford Birthing Unit, also women who live in the Maungaturoto area who wish to birth at Whangarei Hospital. I am passionate about the education of our future midwives, so I may ask if a student midwife can be involved in your care. I have back up support from several midwives in the area. I offer full maternity care to women in Maungaturoto and surrounding areas, as far east as Ruawai.
