I know that pregnancy and motherhood, whether planned or not, can be both daunting and exhilarating. Due to having a daughter with special needs I am also very aware that sometimes the "normal pregnancy" changes and moves in a different direction. Through this personal experience I believe it has made me more understanding and compassionate to others' needs as well as enabling me to provide holistic support for women and their families through this absolutely amazing time in their lives. I recognise that each woman's journey is unique, and above all that it is their experience. My major focus is to support clients by informing them of all the options available for their maternity care and to provide full continuity of care from conception to 6 weeks postnatal. I encourage women who are low risk to birth at our local unit here in Ashburton but will support birthing at Christchurch Women's if medically indicated. Our practice believe in taking small caseloads to provide more personal care to women.
