About Me

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a lead maternity carer, providing care mainly in Northern Southland and Fiordland. I can offer you continuity of midwifery care throughout your pregnancy, labour & birth, and up to 6 weeks after baby's birth. The care I provide is confidential, focused on your individual needs & respectful of your decisions and beliefs. My aim as a midwife is to facilitate a safe, empowering and positive childbirth experience for each client I work with. I believe that an important part of this process is information sharing and informed choice, to enable you to make decisions that you feel are best for you & your baby. On a personal level, I emigrated from Wales to rural Southland, 21 years ago. My husband & I have two adult children. I have been a registered health professional for the past 24 years. Prior to obtaining my midwifery degree in 2013, I worked as a registered nurse in the areas of neonatal intensive care, rural practice nursing & Prime Response in Medical Emergency.

How to Get Hold of Me

For women who live in Central Otago area, and whose current LMC does not offer labour care at Southland Hospital, I am happy to provide you with labour and birth care at this setting before you are discharged back home. Early enquiries about my availability are recommended. I offer an initial options visit to help you decide if I might be the ‘right midwife’ for you. During this visit we can have a chat about your options, and I can answer any questions that you may have. To arrange a meeting please ring me or email me by filling out the form below.
