Rural Delivery Midwifery Services Limited

About Me

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am a lead maternity carer, providing care mainly in Northern Southland and Fiordland. I can offer you continuity of midwifery care throughout your pregnancy, labour & birth, and up to 6 weeks after baby's birth. The care I provide is confidential, focused on your individual needs & respectful of your decisions and beliefs. My aim as a midwife is to facilitate a safe, empowering and positive childbirth experience for each client I work with. I believe that an important part of this process is information sharing and informed choice, to enable you to make decisions that you feel are best for you & your baby. On a personal level, I emigrated from Wales to rural Southland, 20 years ago. My husband & I have two adult children. I have been a registered health professional for the past 24 years. Prior to obtaining my midwifery degree in 2013, I worked as a registered nurse in the areas of neonatal intensive care, rural practice nursing & Prime Response in Medical Emergency.

How to Get Hold of Me

Early enquiries about my availability are recommended. I offer an initial options visit to help you decide if I might be the ‘right midwife’ for you. During this visit we can have a chat about your options, and I can answer any questions that you may have. To arrange a meeting please ring me or email me by filling out the form below. A little bit about my services - My practice partner Nicky Pealing and I share a case load because we cover such an extensive rural area. My primary role is facilitating your care during your pregnancy, during your labour & birth and whilst you are having postnatal care at a birthing facility. Nicky (another Welsh Midwife :) will ensure that you and baby receive regular visits at home for the first 6 weeks. I carry out pregnancy check ups at the Lumsden Maternity Hub, the Te Anau hub & Gore and Winton maternity units as required. I am happy to provide you with labour and birth care in any of Southand's primary birthing units as well as Southland Hospital in Invercargill
