About me
Childbirth is a normal, physiological life event which offers the opportunity for significant personal growth. It is a rite of passage that has the potential to be an empowering and transformative experience in which the woman and her partner can achieve victory, strength and fortify their family bonding. As a midwife working in a nurturing and synergistic partnership with each woman, I strive to practise in a way that facilitates, protects and harmonises with the physiological processes of pregnancy and childbirth, thereby promoting optimal health and well-being during this glorious rite of passage into parenthood. My professional accountability and responsibility to individual woman and baby is also to ensure safety by utilising evidence-informed theory that guides practice, to detect and respond to any indication of complications and any emergency situation with timely and appropriate intervention, referral and resources.
