Horiana Thompson
About me
Tena Koutou, Talofa. My name is Horiana Thompson, I am of NZ Māori and Samoan heritage. My tribal roots are Ngāti Kahangunu. I qualified and trained as a Midwife through AUT from 2010-2015. I have 3 beautiful children and a handful of mokos with many more to come, which had lead me to believe Childbirth is a natural innate experience that has its own cadence and pace, which works best when not interfered with. I will work with women with much facilitation as achievable in determining your care and encouraging you to be active participants in decision-making and self-care I believe that pregnancy and birth are a natural element of life for healthy women therefore I don't provide secondary
care but I also recognise the uniqueness of every woman’s life experience. I believe in respecting women’s beliefs, experiences and choices. I aim to work with women during their pregnancy, labour & birth and 6 weeks during their postnatal period. My backup partner is Puti Baker, who shares the same philosophy as myself.
You can contact myself on 0800 201569 or alternatively email me through the website.
