My name is Penina Fitisemanu and currently the only Pasefika Midwife who works in the Wellington Central and suburban areas of the CCDHB catchment region. I am Samoan/Swiss

I have been a Midwife for 27 years and also trained as a Registered Nurse.

I am available to care for Pasefika and Māori women, their partners and their pēpē to offer an alternate option for choice as an LMC from the mainstream providers that are available.

As a Pasefika woman I value language, culture, family, faith, customs and traditions which are the foundations of who I am. As a Midwife I bring these values with me when I care for women from not only a Samoan background but also different Pasefika nations and Māori.

I acknowledge Pasefika and Māori women are uniquely different but intimately understand we share very similar cultural beliefs. By offering a culturally appropriate service, this improves access, equity and satisfaction to Women in my care
