Koeravaerua Tua

Kia Orana, congratulations on your pregnancy! You can call me Koera for short. I stem from a Cook Island and NZ European background and I'm a proud military wife and mother to five children. Me and my whānau are based within the city of Palmerston North.

I feel honoured to walk alongside wāhine and their whānau during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Through my own birth and parenting experiences, I've grown a strong passion to support, guide, and journey with wāhine and their whānau through a special time in their lives.

I am a Primary Midwife and run my antenatal clinic on Wednesdays in P.North. Offering birth at home, Te Papaioea Birthing Unit and PN Hospital; and in-home postnatal care up to 6 weeks. I take a small caseload of 3-4 women per month and work on a weekend on/weekend off basis with my amazing backup, Renaye Judd. We are both supported by our group of experienced and skilled primary midwives.

Mental well-being is a huge part of my practice philosophy as well as a safe labour and birthing space. I'm a strong believer, that if we prioritise the mental health of our māmā; then physically, our bodies will labour and birth well in the environment they feel most comfortable in. Partnership is key to a trusted and respected relationship between midwife and mama. Feel free to contact me if you wish to know more about me and my practice philosophy by text (02102510522) during working hours; Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, or by completing the email contact form below. Look forward to hearing from you!
