Kia ora, I’m Sylvia. To me; midwifery is grounded in the principles of health and well-being. I feel confident working with women from all Cultural backgrounds, and I enjoy their diversity and knowledge. I believe the partnership with the woman and her whānau throughout her Journey involves mutual respect, communication, and trust. Through my own childbirth experiences, I came to understand the unpredictability of birth and the choices women can face. I feel the women who do require medical intervention during birth deserve the same support and admiration as women who don’t, and to feel empowered and at peace with their experiences of birth. I listen, encourage, support, and help provide you with the information you need to make the right choices for you. I work with Garden City Midwives, we are epidural certified and happy to support you in whatever birthing environment you are comfortable with: At home, in One of the Primary Units, or at ChCh Women’s Hosp.
